My name is McKenna Caroline Vaughn, and I am a Texas native paving her own path on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. I graduated from West Texas A&M University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, minoring in Advertising, Public Relations, and Applied Communications. I am 24 years old, I have a 16 year old cat named Ruby whom I love dearly, and I am deeply passionate about the study of history and its relationship with modern media and news reporting. I am the proud daughter of a Palestinian refugee, and I carry my father’s story with me in all that I do. I am also a born-and-bred Texas girl, and while I’m excited to be starting a new life here in Jacksonville, I’ll always be Texan through and through- just like my momma!

About Me

Though I am starting my career as a historian and social media content curator, I hope to one day become a war correspondent in the Middle East. My career goals and my Palestinian background serve as my reminder of the importance of communication that is clear and truthful while also adaptable to modern trends and technology. I began my study of history because I believe that the root of all evil is ignorance, and in educating myself in both global and my own familial history I have found my passion for sharing what I’ve learned with the power of modern media. Communicating with one another is how we retain our humanity, and I am so excited to apply my communication skills wherever they make a difference.
